In recent months, Mercedes Mone has successfully kicked off a new chapter of her career. Following her WWE departure, the former Sasha Banks made her NJPW debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4. Mone defeated KAIRI to win the IWGP Women's Championship at NJPW Battle in the Valley. Mone previously trained with Yamashita as she geared up for her return to the ring, and now the TJPW star wants to take on the champion in an actual match.

In an interview with Fightful's Scott Edwards, Yamashita was asked whether she wants to face Mone, and she made it clear that she has her sights set on the matchup.

“Of course. Of course she wants it, she wants that match. If it happens, it’s going to blow the roof off whichever arena it takes place," Yamashita said.

Yamashita will be in action at TJPW Grand Princess 2023 on March 18, as she will team up with Maki Itoh to face Max The Impaler and Heidi Howizter. The show will air on Wrestle Universe.

Fans will also be able to see Yamashita at TJPW Live in Los Angeles on March 31. There, she and Itoh will face Yuka Sakazaki & Mizuki. The event will air on FITE TV.
