Rickey Shane Page is a real son of a bitch in the ring. As it turns out, he's pretty cool outside of it.
One of the most respected and highly regarded heels in the world of wrestling was asked to say nice things about his colleagues. It worked! Here, in the newest edition of Shooting Softly, Rickey Shane Page says nice things!
Gregory Iron:
“That’s a hard one for me, ‘cause he’s my roommate and he gets on my nerves on a daily basis. But, I will say, just the fact that he’s done what he’s done in wrestling with his disability is just crazy, and he’s a good professional wrestler. Not even a ‘good professional wrestler for someone who has a disability,’ like he’s good. He knows what he’s doing and it’s pretty crazy how hard he’s worked to get where he is and how much he’s done. I was on Ron Funches Twitch stream. He didn’t know that Greg has cerebral palsy. So, he had never noticed. That’s a pretty good thing for Greg. He’s so good people at what he does that people don’t even notice.”
AJ Gray:
“He’s, you know what, as much as he annoys the crap out of me, he just keeps going. So, good for him. You know what I mean? I feel like there’s always something going on with him. It seems like he has a lot of bad luck lately, but he always works hard and he’s always on shows. He’s on all these shows. So, good for him. He’s one of the most booked guys on the indies. Good for him. That’s great.”
Jordan Oliver:
“Big breakfast. I love Jordan Oliver. He used to bust his ass so hard at CZW. My girlfriend at the time caught it. She’s like, ‘Who is that kid?’ I was like, ‘I dunno, a student or something. She said, ‘He’s always busting his ass.’ So, then I started watching him and I’m like, ‘Dude.’ He’s running, taking the ring down, setting up the signs, setting up chairs, guard rails. Just busting ass all the time. He’s like 17, he was just this skinny little kid. Then he started wrestling. He’s good, he always asks for advice and things like that. Then he just over the pandemic got his big boy body and all of a sudden he’s a heavyweight and an adult, you know what I mean? Chopping the shit out of me. I’m just so glad to see him get as far as he has. It’s cool that he’s in in MLW and he’s on television. He’s just a good dude, a straight-up good dude.”
Jody Threat:
“She should be on TV right now. I think the pandemic really has messed that up for a lot of Canadians. It’s very hard. It was hard for them before. It’s even harder now. They’re literally not allowed to come here. But, she’s wonderful. She hasn’t been wrestling that long, but she gets it. She’s in great shape. Good look, good gimmick. Understands wrestling. Very knowledgeable. Very moldable. Teachable. She’ll listen. She’s been an athlete her whole life. It’s a travesty that she’s not on television somewhere. For real. She should be signed immediately. She’s also just one of the strongest people I’ve ever been in the ring with, just putting that out there. She is freakishly strong.”
Jake Crist:
“Again, someone that needs to be on television. I know he was with IMPACT! and things like that and whatever happened with that. But, like Jake’s always been so good. He’s just reminds me of Eddie Guerrero so much, just the way he moves. He’s always calm. Never worried about a thing ‘cause he’s just good. He’s that good that he’s just like, ‘Okay.’ He can hang with anybody. He’s looking in the best shape he’s ever been in recently. I think he’s really motivated and determined ‘cause he kinda got the short end of the stick in a lot of situations. Jake’s a straight-up good dude. He’s a family man. I’ve known him for 15 years. I know his kids. I know his wife. He needs to be signed. He needs to be doing something making money, not having to worry about taking care of his family. That’s how good of a wrestler he is.”
JTG:
“Yeah, JTG, man. He’s a wild man. He was down as fuck to do light tubes and shit. Yeah.”
Regarding using light tubes:
“He came to me. ‘Cause I don’t want to do it. I’m trying to back down on the death match stuff and he came to me and was like, ‘Oh, what if I grab a chair and then you grab a light.’ I was like, ‘That’s up to you, man.’ He was like, ‘Yeah, you can do something to it with me, man.’ I do this light tube in the mouth spot, I was like, ‘What if I do that?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah, that’s fine.’ I was like, ‘Alright, man.’ Then, after the match, Nick Gage came in and ran me off, and then Nick Gage hit him in the head with a bundle of light tubes. He’s bleeding, and I’m like, ‘Brother, what are you doing?’ He was great. Loved working him. He’s way bigger than I thought he was gonna be. I think standing next to Shad all those years you just assume he’s tiny. But, he’s like 6’3 and he’s fucking jacked. But, yeah, he’s great. I really hope I get to work with him or at least be on shows with him. He’s just fun to be around.”
Ethan Page:
“Obviously, I don’t know what his contract status is right now, but there’s no doubt in my mind that he’ll end up somewhere and be making a ton of money. He’s like the most hustlin’ ass dude I’ve ever met in my life. He’s always doing something. He’s always working on something. Definitely a person that I think I’ve made a friend with in wrestling that will go beyond wrestling. If we both stop wrestling, I feel like we’d still talk to each other. Same with Josh Alexander. Really good friends of mine that I truly care about and love and want nothing but the best for them. So, there’s no doubt in my mind that he’ll end up somewhere and he’ll be the main attraction because he’ll make himself the main attraction ‘cause that’s how he is. I’m just ready for the world to open back up so me and him can talk about Marvel movies because he’s my Marvel buddy and we’ve not been able to talk about stuff.”
“Dude, I’m his toy mule. I don’t know if you know that or not. So, he figured out that if he orders toys to the U.S., he saves on shipping. I was going to Canada so much that I would just bring him his toys. So, it’d be half a trunk of gear and then half a trunk of Ethan Page’s toys that he needs. I would always take pictures of this stack of boxes. He’d be like, ‘I’m sorry,’ and I’m like, ‘It’s fine, dude.’ ”
“He looks the part now, he’s crazy jacked. He can talk. He can wrestle. He can do it all. I mean, if you guys haven’t watched Alpha-1, please watch Alpha-1. It’s one of the best booked and ran, production wise, promotions I’ve ever wrestled for ever. It’s very small, local roster with a few add-ins. It’s the best places, booking wise, I’ve ever wrestled. He does that all by himself. He’s a one man band when it comes to wrestling. He can do literally anything.”
