Timothy Thatcher: Beating Josh Barnett At Bloodsport Was One Of The Biggest Victories In My Career

Timothy Thatcher reflects on picking up a big win over Josh Barnett.

At GCW Bloodsport 9, Timothy Thatcher was able to shock the world of independent wrestling, as he picked up a win over Josh Barnett, who was previously undefeated at the event. Before defeating Barnett at the event, Thatcher had a less than satisfying record at Bloodspoort, boasting only one win and three losses.

While speaking to Fightful Overbooked's In The Weeds podcast for a new interview, Thatcher said that Bloodsport is his style of professional wrestling.

"I really enjoy Bloodsport. It is what I think professional wrestling should be, and that’s straight forward professional wrestling. I’ve had ups and downs in Bloodsport, but it’s one of those things where you never take fights you think you’re going to lose. When I took the match with Josh Barnett, the conclusion in your mind is, ‘Maybe this isn’t going to go my way.’ Every so often, things work out and I happened to catch him. That’s the crazy part of submission wrestling, anyone can catch anyone. I did get a victory over Mr. Barnett, which is one of the biggest victories in my career. Very grateful for that. Bloodsport is a wonderful thing. This year I get to face Axel Tischer. The last time I wrestled him was wXw in 2012 where wXw would have an Ambition tournament, which is similar to Bloodsport. They didn’t take the ropes down, but it was knockout or submission. My debut for the company was that tournament in 2012. Myself and Axe Man were in the finals and he won. This has been years in the making."
