To open NXT TakeOver: New Orleans the sure-fire barn burner of a matchup between EC3, Ricochet, Adam Cole, Killian Dane, Lars Sullivan and The Velveteen Dream was one for the books. The six men put there bodies through hell for nearly thirty plus minutes.
After the breath-taking moments that each man in the match contributed to, one man stood tall amongst the rest. As Ricochet was nearing his way to the top and it appeared that the "One And Only" was going to capture the NXT North American Championship in his debut match, one-half of the current NXT Tag Team Champions "The Panama City Playboy" Adam Cole took advantage of the unaware Ricochet and pulled down the title from the rung that hung above. Adam Cole is now the new and the first-ever NXT North American Champion.
