Glacier Says He's Glad Rob Van Dam Didn't Take Glacier Character, If It Was Offered To Him

Glacier made his debut in 1996 after months of vignettes aired to hype his debut.

Glacier was played by Ray Lloyd, who had a background in martial arts and seemed a good fit to play the 'Mortal Kombat' Sub-Zero-type character.

Rumors have circulated over the years that Rob Van Dam was tapped to don the Glacier gear.

"Rob told me that one time at a convention. I had never heard that and I've seen an interview where Eric [Bischoff] says that he doesn't remember that. Eric explains it, and all the conversations probably early on, that might have been where someone considered that Rob... I'm glad Rob decided, if he was offered, not to take it because I'm very proud to be Glacier," said Lloyd on Hey! EW with RJ City.

Rob Van Dam would go on to have a successful career being himself in ECW.

Elsewhere during the interview, Lloyd comments on global warming. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
