Goldberg: It's Hard For Me To Pass Judgment On AEW Because I Don't Watch. Tony Khan Reminds Me Of Dixie Carter

Goldberg comments on AEW.

In May 2023, Tony Khan revealed that he had talked with Goldberg but wouldn't reveal what those talks were about. Just under a year later, Goldberg said he found the AEW product to be "cheesy" when discussing his talks with Tony Khan.

Details And Behind The Scenes News From WWE's European Tour And Berlin Show

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Goldberg was asked about his conversations with Khan.

"I think we have a different perspective on it. It's hard for me to pass judgment on their production because I don't watch it. I see clips of it. It's hard to give a rational breakdown of how they are if I don't really watch it. I don't really know. He reminds me of Dixie Carter, but a male version. I don't know if it's a good or bad thing, but he reminds me of that scenario. It's a different feel. It's just different," said Goldberg.

Asked if he was close to a deal with AEW, Goldberg replied, "No, I don't think I was ever close to making a deal with them. I think it was much more of a realistic transition when Sting was involved. I reached out to Sting because I wanted to be part...I thought he and I could do a farewell thing at some point together, but it wasn't about me, it was about Sting. I could never overshadow anything that he does, but I don't want to convulute the water. It would have been a nice crescendo, but it wasn't about me. The timing was kind of off."

Sting retired in March 2024 at AEW Revolution.

Goldberg hasn't wrestled since WWE Elimination Chamber 2022. It is unknown if he will return to the ring.

He previously stated that he's put his retirement match on the backburner. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
