The Good Brothers Joke That AJ Styles 'Christian Bullied' Them Into Staying With WWE

Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows had the chance to leave WWE in 2019, but decided to re-sign with the company instead.

The Young Bucks thought The Good Brothers would be joining them in AEW and even had an angle mapped out for the debut episode of AEW Dynamite. The Good Brothers got some heat in AEW over their decision to stick with WWE after telling the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega they would be joining AEW.

Talking with the Young Bucks on Talk N Shop, The Good Brothers jokingly blamed AJ Styles for "Christian Bullying" them into staying with WWE.

"He goes, 'what do you think about this AEW thing, do you think it's legit or not?' We're like, 'Yeah, we think it's legit.' We're talking about who is going and what is happening and he started pecking away at us because he knew he didn't want to be by himself. That's what I'm sad about. I wish we had him with us because I miss him so much and he misses this," said Gallows.

Anderson added, "AJ walked up to us after we thought we were leaving and said, 'How much will it take for ya'll to stay?' We said a number, he said 'Alright,' and he walked away. He went to bat for us hard."

Things didn't quite work out for Gallows and Anderson in WWE as they were released in April 2020. They ended up with IMPACT Wrestling and eventually joined AEW as the two companies entered into a working relationship at the end of 2020.

Styles had a chance to join AEW as well in 2019, but also decided to re-sign with WWE. He made sure to call and thank the Young Bucks for their help in securing a new contract.

"Shortly after, he called me up and he's like, 'Hey Matt, I just wanna say freakin' thank you, man. I would have never got the offer I got if you guys didn't create this thing.' Well, you're welcome, I guess, AJ," said Matt Jackson.

Gallows commented, "There's a voicemail full of guys who need to make the same call."

The Good Brothers and Young Bucks are doing well outside of WWE with Matt & Nick holding the AEW Tag Team Titles. The Good Brothers are appearing on both IMPACT and AEW, but failed to recapture the IMPACT Tag Team Titles at IMPACT Rebellion.
