Battle Slam has crowned its inaugural ICON World Champion.
On September 25, the promotion held its Battle Slam: Aftermath event, which featured an eight-man tournament for the title. At the end of the event, Baron Black walked away as the ICON World Champion.
The show opened with a Wild Card match, where Kevin Knight defeated KC Navarro and Jay Malachi. Navarro attacked Knight after the match, and Black benefitted from the situation because his match with Knight started moments later. He then defeated Knight to advance to the next round.
Throughout the show, Lil' Scrappy, Leon Ruff, and Richard King advanced to the finals by beating Shoot Taylor, Adam Priest, and Chad Skywalker, respectively. In the main event, the four victors faced off in an elimination match for the championship. Lil' Scrappy got disqualified for hitting Black with the title, and Ruff pinned King. Black ultimately won by making Ruff tap out.

Black cut a promo after the match and discussed what winning the title meant to him. He praised his opponents, including Scrappy and Lil' Scrappy. He asked Ruff to come back down to the ring, and the latter eventually did. Black praised Ruff's talent and gave him credit for holding titles on the biggest stage of all. He told Ruff that he deserves to be a world champion, and he's going places.
Black continued to commend the other talent who competed on the card, including Priest. He then talked about putting in the work and doing his best to make the most of every situation. Black vowed to face any challenger that wants to step up.
