Cody Rhodes addressed the crowd on AEW Dynamite for the first time since his AEW TNT Title match at AEW Full Gear, giving credit to Darby Allin for being the better man. As Cody turned his attention to his next potential challenger, hinting at a rematch with MJF, he was interrupted by the debuting Jade Cargill.
Cargill warned Cody that he has woken a sleeping giant and that giant goes by the name of Shaq.

Cargill was cut off at the end of the segment by Brandi Rhodes, leading to the two having to be separated. The segment ended with Team Taz (Brian Cage & Ricky Starks) attacking Cody before he was saved by Darby Allin.
When Shaq signed a new deal with TNT in August, he hinted at a potential match with Cody.
