JBL had a good time at WWE Raw.
WWE Hall of Famer JBL appeared on the January 20th episode of WWE Raw. He was in a backstage segment with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, and he was on commentary for a match between Kingston and Rey Mysterio.
Speaking on Something to Wrestle, JBL was asked about his experience at WWE Raw.
“It was fantastic. I love going to Dallas. I’ve been going to American Airlines Arena since they built the arena. Always great to come back to Dallas, it was unbelievable. $1.3 million dollar gate, which is unheard of. I remember when we first did $100,000 there. Of course, that was 25 years ago, but man, these guys are killing it with business. But it was so fun to be back. I look at the announce table, it’s like a $300,000 table. It is insane what these guys have to play with. It’s just fun. You’re so excited that the business has become this," JBL said.
JBL was then asked whether it felt different backstage compared to when Vince McMahon was in charge. He noted that it was, as the new regime did not constantly rewrite shows the way that McMahon did. JBL said it felt different in a good way.
“It does. It does feel different. Vince was almost constantly rewriting the show all the way up to the last minute. Now, they’re…I don’t know about more organized, I guess that is the correct way to say it. They had the show written, they don’t rewrite it. People are just getting ready for the show. It’s a different feel. I liked the hectic of rewriting the show also because it was kind of fun [laughs], but it’s just a different feel. It feels looser, guys act like they’re having a great time. Not like they didn’t during my day, but it just feels different, and I think in a good way, a real good way," he said.
JBL also noted that he wasn’t there long enough to see what the vibe was. He also said that Triple H and Nick Khan were both absent, so Bruce Prichard was running the show.
