Jerry Lawler Details His Final Phone Call With Brian Lawler And Updates Everyone On The Investigation

Jerry Lawler is slowly offering more details surrounding the death of his son Brian Lawler.

Brian passed away on July 29 after an apparent suicide. Jerry has questioned the circumstances of the death from the moment it happened, believing that things haven't added up. Jerry notes that the marks around Brian's neck are not consistent with the "suicide by shoestring" story.

AEW Continental Classic 2024 Night One Recap

Appearing on ABC Local 24 Memphis News, Lawler offered more details, including the last phone call he received from his son.

"At 10:30 that morning I was in Raleigh, North Carolina. I received a phone call from Brian -- a collect call that was monitored and recorded. It's timed to 15 minutes. That morning he talked perfectly rational, perfectly normal. He just went on a little bit how we had a meeting a couple of weeks ago with the sheriff there and Brian went on about how none of this stuff that the sheriff had promised would take place, had taken place. He talked about the bad conditions there in the jail. We got cut off mid-sentence after 15 minutes."

Lawler had previously said that when he and Brian met with the sheriff, the sheriff told them that time in jail would be beneficial for Brian.

Hours later, Lawler received a call from the sheriff who said, in Lawler's words, "Brian was acting a fool and picked a fight with somebody he shouldn't have picked a fight with."

The sheriff told Lawler that Brian suffered a laceration over his eye, but he was stitched up. Lawler said previously that witness' told him Brian did receive a cut on his head, but was no given medical treatment. Lawler reiterates that point with ABC Local 24 Memphis News saying, "We heard later on from an eye witness to that fight that it went nothing what the sheriff said."

Lawler still believes that things don't add up when taking into account his conversation with Brian, eye witness accounts, and what the sheriff told them.

Most recently, another inmate was caught using Brian's identity

A final report on Lawler's death may not come out for weeks. Fightful will continue to update you as this story unfolds.
