Jey Uso still wants to prove himself.
Ahead of his match with Gunther at WrestleMania 41, some fans have been questioning the success of Jey Uso as a main event performer. While some have criticized Uso's in-ring ability, others have defended it and praised the Royal Rumble winner for the amount of charisma and star-power that he brings to his character.
While speaking with Shakiel Mahjouri of CBS Sports/Shak Wrestling for a new interview, Jey Uso followed up on previous comments about doubters by saying that he still wants to prove himself as a singles star.
“I don’t know. I just think — no matter what I’m doing right now, I’m still trying to prove myself as a singles star, a singles competitor even though I’ve been by myself for maybe a year and a half. I’m still trying to prove myself man and it’s okay, it’s okay, this is my story. I think a lot of people rock with me because they didn’t see me — they watched me grow in front of them, they know where I came from, they raised me up. So, that’s all imma do, uce. Every Monday, I’m just going to — I show up to work and I make sure I leave it all out there man because I’m trying to enjoy this ride. My father says it all the time, it don’t matter how high you get, you’ll always meet the same people on your way down. Be kind to everyone, be nice, be respectful. That’s us though, that’s family oriented. You can meet all my brothers and everyone and we’ll greet you the same and love you the same man. I’m going to just show up every Monday and do what I got to do and hopefully the people will still ride with me.”
