Joel Redman, formerly known as NXT's Oliver Grey speaks on NXT UK and the future NXT Europe brand.
Oliver Grey was crowned one-half of the inaugural NXT Tag Team Champions along with Adrian Neville (PAC). Unfortunately, an ACL injury halted his momentum, and he would ultimately be released from WWE as Neville went on to be a significant part of the first iteration of NXT on the WWE Network.
In a new interview with Bryan Asbury of Developmentally Speaking, Redman was asked about whether or not he was contacted when WWE created an NXT brand specifically for the UK. Even though Redman says he was never contacted about any spot in NXT UK, he says he contacted William Regal before COVID.
While Redman says he sees the potential NXT Europe brand as another possible open door for him, he is now a trainer and would feel satisfied if one of his students got the call.
"Many people have asked me that. They say, 'Did they contact you about anything to do with NXT UK?' I never heard anything. I was told that William Regal wanted to speak to me at one point. I dropped him an email just before COVID. He sort of [said], 'Get back to me after COVID,' which I did. Yeah, it is what it is. You can change those things, and there might be NXT Europe coming up. That's the rumors that I've heard. Maybe if that comes up, it could be something there, too. For me and my students will get tryouts. Seeing them make a good impression in NXT Europe would be just as satisfying as if I got a call," Redman said.
Currently, NXT Europe has been put on hold due to a majority stake in WWE being purchased by Endeavor. Fans can read more about that here.
