John Cena has worked with Vince McMahon for almost two decades with most of that run coming hand-in-hand as Cena was positioned as the face of the company.
While in Hollywood, Cena may work with a new director and producer on every film. For Suicide Squad, Cena worked with James Gunn, an award-winning director best known for his work on Guardians of the Galaxy.
Answering a "fan question" sent in by Gunn himself in an interview with Collider, Cena was asked what makes Gunn so much better than every other director he's worked with.
"James is everything. The reason he is such a great director is that he assumes all roles. He creates the story from the ground up, he supervises the story as the producer, he manages all personalities when they are on set as a coach, he's very determined in his selection process of the cast so he's a casting agent, he's meticulous on small details so he's wardrobe design, he's a ridiculously intricate storyboarder so he's a production designer as well. I think his ability to have his hands in everything...he's almost like the Vince McMahon of a movie. Vince is involved in everything and wants to be. I mean, everything from marketing, putting himself out there. James puts his stamp on everything because he's invested in every piece of it and has confidence in what he does. He does too many things at once," said Cena.
While Cena is doing some promotion for Suicide Squad, which releases in August, he's mainly doing promotional rounds for Fast & Furious 9, which hits theaters on June 25.
WWE is hopeful he'll be doing promotion for SummerSlam as they are eyeing a bout between him and Roman Reigns.
