John Cena sees great potential in AEW's Max Caster.
The Acclaimed member has drawn comparisons to Cena based on the fact that they both incorporated rap into their wrestling personas. Caster drops a few lines every time he comes to the ring and Cena, infamously, rose to fame as the Dr. of Thuganomics early in his WWE career.
Speaking with Alfred Konuwa of Forbes, Cena shared that he is familiar with Max and is very confident that he would lose a rap battle between them, saying, “I know of Max Caster very well, and the answer is no.”
The Peacemaker star added that he asked a friend to pass Max's information along to him after hearing him for the first time. As for advice on the mic, Cena says he has none to offer Caster because he is punching far above his weight class.
“He’s extremely gifted. I remember hearing him for the first time, and asking a good friend of mine to please pass his information on to me. I immediately checked out his raps, out of the blue, and I saw what he was doing was spectacular. I wish him all the best of luck, but I can’t give him any advice because he’s punching far above my weight class. He is very gifted. He’s gifted enough to rhyme to the beat live, where I kind of did my stuff a cappella to let the punchlines sink in," Cena said.
Finishing up, Cena heaped Caster with praise saying that he shows great potential and that, as it relates to hip-hop, he is a better version of himself.
“Hip-hop constantly evolves, and it constantly moves forward, and he is the better version of what I did. He’s really, really spectacular. As long as he keeps everything in realistic perspective, he shows great potential," Cena said.
During a recent interview, Cena admitted that he misses being a full-time performer, but thinks that being on TV weekly would eventually result in diminishing returns. Click here to read his full remarks.
