Kevin Nash shares his thoughts on AEW's viewership.
At least among critics, AEW is often the target of negative comments that note the company has not substantially grown its audience throughout his relatively short existence. Wrestling fans and critics alike continue to focus on ratings, and AEW Dynamite has stayed within a relatively stable range.
Speaking on his Kliq This podcast with Sean Oliver, WWE Hall of Famer Nash was asked whether AEW's banned moves list was necessary as the two of them were talking about the way WCW dealt with corporate oversight. In the aftermath of the latest Blood & Guts match, Nash shared his belief that allowing so much blood paints the company into a certain demographic of fans. He stated that AEW hasn't grown that audience, while WWE is doing some "nice" ratings.
“I think that what you do when you allow that much blood and that much [of a] spotfest, you paint yourself into a certain demographic that’s going to watch that program. They haven’t grown that audience, and there’s a reason why there not growing the audience while in the meantime, WWE is doing some nice ratings. I know, I’m a homer. I’m a WWE guy, I’m blowing everybody, get my legends deal," Nash said.
