In an interview with NJPW's website, Konosuke Takeshita discussed competing in the G1 Climax 34 tournament. In one highlight, he was asked to comment on what impression he wanted to make on fans with his first NJPW tour.

"Most of all I want to prove how good I am, how strong I am, and I want people to really take in the kind of wrestling I’ve been able to form as a Japanese who’s spent the last three years in the States," Takeshita said.

Takeshita was then asked whether he had further ambitions in NJPW after the G1. He stated that he wanted to win singles gold, and he aimed to keep showing NJPW what he could do.

"I want some gold! In this business, belts are like tickets that take you to new places. I’m in the Don Callis Family in AEW, but I’m a single player and I want singles gold, and to keep showing NJPW just what Konosuke Takeshita can do. Over the next month, NJPW is going to see the sum total of everything I’ve put together in DDT and in the US, and why that makes mine the best wrestling there is. When it comes to the conversation of best in the world, I am the first name and I am the only name. I am the Alpha, Konosuke Takeshita," Takeshita said.

During the interview, Takeshita said that he should not be overlooked in the NJPW G1 Climax 34. Check out his comments here.
