Kurt Angle Believes Triple H Could Have Had Five-Star Matches With Braun Strowman

At least one person was looking forward to the Braun Strowman vs. Triple H program teased at the end of the 2017 WWE Survivor Series.

2017 was the last time that Triple H competed in a WWE Survivor Series event, scoring to win for team Monday Night Raw, betraying his partner that evening, Kurt Angle, in the process. That betrayal would sow the seeds for Triple H and Kurt Angle to be a part of a mixed tag team match at WrestleMania 34, which also included Stephanie McMahon and Ronda Rousey, but at the end of that night, Braun Strowman would get the last laugh, laying out Triple H.

Kurt Angle says he doesn't agree with how that story unfolded with Triple H and Braun but he does believe that Strowman and Triple H would have had a classic match.

"I just don't agree with what they did with Braun there," said Kurt during the most recent episode of his podcast, The Kurt Angle Show, where he recapped the events leading up to WWE Survivor Series 2017 and the main event of that show. "I understand him giving me the Pedigree to screw me over and screw me over with the win against Shane [McMahon], that made sense but the thing with Braun Strowman, leaving him hanging there high and dry just made him look like an idiot.

"I say yes, it [a program between Braun Strowman and Triple H] definitely should have [happened]," Kurt continued. "Not that Triple H turned on Braun but I think he disrespected Braun to a certain degree, because he took me out in front of Braun, so that's a sign of disrespect. I think that if they would have had a program together, it would have been great and I think that Triple H and Braun Strowman would have had some five-star matches."

Ultimately, a singles match never took place between Triple H and Braun Strowman, and as of WrestleMania 38, Triple H officially retired from in-ring competition due to issues with his heart that forced him to be implanted with a defibrillator. Triple H is now the Chief Content Officer of WWE following the retirement of Vince McMahon. One of Triple H's first moves as Chief Content Officer saw him rehire Braun Strowman to the company.
