Kurt Angle: Kane Was Too Nice, WWE Took Advantage Of Him

Kurt Angle reflects on Kane's longevity in WWE and feels like perhaps "The Big Red Machine" may have been a little too giving when it came to protecting his character.

Kurt Angle and Kane were staples of the WWE Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras. While both are multiple-time World Champions, they were also known for fluctuating up and down the card and working well with any opponent they were programmed with.

Speaking about Kane on the most recent episode of his podcast, The Kurt Angle Show, the Olympic gold medalist touted Kane as a model employee during his time with the company and even feels like perhaps WWE took advantage of him to a degree.

"I didn't hang out with Glenn that often. He was a really nice guy. You can't say a bad thing about him. Nobody could. He was like the perfect employee," he said. "He never got in trouble or anything. He did everything he was told to do. He worked his ass off. I think he was a little too nice. The company kind of took advantage of him. He had a lot more losses than he did wins, and he was a dominant character.

"He was one of those guys that was in the main event that really made other wrestlers," Kurt adds. "When you're going up through the ranks, you had to go through Kane. When you beat Kane, that was a big plus on your shoulder and you could continue on knowing that you're a bigger star after you defeated Kane. He was one of the obstacles you had to go through to get to the main event."

Kane joined Kurt Angle in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021. Today, Glenn Jacobs is the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.

Elsewhere on this podcast, Angle reflected on the likelihood of Roman Reigns going to Hollywood. Read more here.
