Women's wrestling legends are honored for their contributions to the industry.
On Saturday, December 17, as a part of the Icons of Wrestling Convention & Fanfest, the Women's Wrestling Hall of Fame inducted its first three names as former WWE Women's Champion Jazz, Madusa (Alundra Blayze), and Luna Vachon were the first three inductees. Both Madusa and Jazz got a chance to speak to the audience. Sadly, Vachon passed away in 2010.
Angel Orsini and ECW legend Gary Wolfe are two of the individuals behind the Hall of Fame.
Thus far, the only one of these inductees that is also in the WWE Hall of Fame is Madusa. Jazz recently retired after one final run in IMPACT Wrestling. Luna Vachon was the subject of an episode of VICE's Dark Side of the Ring. During that episode, Madusa revealed that she wanted to change the ending of a live event bout, allowing Luna Vachon to become the WWF Women's Champion, an accolade she always felt that Luna deserved.
There will be future inductions into the Hall of Fame including Ethel Johnson, Mildred Burke, Rita Marie Chatterton, the first woman referee in WWF, and the entire original GLOW roster.
Madusa was recently featured on an episode of WWE NXT as part of a panel that helped pick the first set of Iron Survivor Challenge competitors. Madusa is also releasing an autobiography. Fans can learn more about that here.
Congratulations to the first three inductees. Fightful will report on when other inductions are made into the Women's Wrestling Hall of Fame.
