Joey Janela discusses Jon Moxley's spiked bat spot.
The March 19 edition of AEW Dynamite featured one of the most controversial spots in company history, as Jon Moxley took a suplex on Cope's signature nail bat.
The discourse surrounding the spot has been heavy in recent weeks, allowing fans to give their take on the spot.
Now, Joey Janela, a pioneer in the deathmatch game, is weighing in on things, saying that the spot was f*cking crazy.
“I was watching it live and that spike bat was out of control. I don’t know if I would do something like that because that is fucking crazy. Those were real nails and it stuck in him — I don’t know if he knew that was going to happen or it just happened that way, but that was crazy. Sometimes with stuff — If you’re a deathmatch wrestler, you’ve been in [situations] like, ‘This is going to stick in me and this is going to be the visual.’ They were big nails too, they were long nails.” Janela told MuscleManMalcolm in a new interview.
Janela continued on and said that he would not be doing any crazy deathmatch stuff if he had a kid.
“Moxley showed that he’s still a little bit of a whack job doing that. Especially with a child. His wife was backstage probably watching like, ‘What the fuck, Jon.’ If I had a kid, I wouldn’t be doing any of this. I’d be wrestling like Colt Cabana or something, as safely and nicely as possible.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Janela talked about coming back from injury two months early to face Sabu at Joey Janela's Spring Break 9. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
