After Chris Jericho returned at WWE Fastlane to help cost Kevin Owens the WWE Universal Championship against Goldberg, little time was wasted in setting up what is shaping up to be one of the biggest matches on the WrestleMania 33 card.
It will be Jericho vs. Owens for the United States Championship.
During the opening segment of Monday Night Raw, a returning Jericho was confronted by Owens. Owens explained that he turned on Jericho because he had been using him as a "tool" to help him remain champion, and that he was never his best friend at all. He said that Jericho became a burden after agreeing to a match against Goldberg on behalf of Owens. He then claimed that since losing the title, his only thought was finding a way to cause Jericho to lose the United States title.
Jericho quickly accepted, making the match between the two official.

After the match was accepted, Jericho called Owens down to the ring instead of waiting until Wrestlemania to fight. The two were ultimately joined in the ring by Samoa Joe and Sami Zayn, leading to a pair of matches for the show.
Also on Raw, Sasha Banks defeated WWE Raw Women's Champion Bayley to have herself added to a WrestleMania championship match, as she'll take on Bayley and Charlotte.
