Marina Shafir hasn't gotten the "All Elite" graphic yet, but she recently confirmed that she is signed to AEW.
Shafir signed with WWE in 2018 and worked in the company's developmental system until her release in June 2021. She subsequently started competing on the independent scene, and she made her AEW debut at the Dark tapings on December 3. Since then, she has gradually become a prominent member of the women's division, as she often competes on AEW Dark and Dark: Elevation. Shafir has also joined forces with Nyla Rose and Vickie Rose, and the act has been featured on TV.
Speaking on The Sessions with Renée Paquette, Shafir confirmed that she has signed with the company. She noted that her schedule got too crazy when she was working some independent shows. Shafir then noted that there are multiple ways to climb the mountain in wrestling, and she wants to take time to understand what she needs to bring to the table.
"Before I got signed with AEW, I was doing indie shows here and there, but then the schedule just got crazy. I got signed and I was like, oh fuck, I’m spending no time with my family, and I just decided not to do anything else. I took a couple here and there, but for me, pro wrestling is special, and you can do it however the fuck you want to do it. That’s what people say. There isn’t just one fucking way up the mountain. There’s multiple. So for me, I need to approach whatever matches that are in my future, I want time to prepare. I want time to understand what I need to bring to the table. I like that pressure," Shafir said.
Shafir previously discussed her transition from mixed martial arts to wrestling. Click here to see what she had to say.
