Matt Hardy shares his thoughts on AEW Collision and CM Punk's looming return.
Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed that AEW Collision will premiere on June 17, and the addition of the new TV show is expected to impact AEW and the way it allocates its roster. On top of that, Tony Khan confirmed that CM Punk will return on the premiere of the show. Punk has been absent since his brawl with The Elite (Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks) following AEW All Out 2022.
Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Hardy was asked to describe how the roster is feeling about AEW Collision, and he began by emphasizing that everyone just wants to know what their travel schedule will be.
“We shall see. I think more than anything else, people just kind of want to know what their schedule is. When you have a live show on a Wednesday and a live show on a Saturday, that means the travel is going to take you out Tuesday evening. It’s gonna bring you back Thursday morning, and then Saturday, [it] would take you out Friday evening, work all Saturday, bring you home Sunday morning. So people just want to have an idea of where they’re going to land, I think more than anything else. As far as how we’re feeling about that show, honestly, I think people will start determining those feelings once the show starts, I would imagine, and once it starts being produced weekly, I think we’ll probably get a good feel of how the show is gonna be when it’s all said and done," Hardy said.
Hardy shared his thoughts on Punk's looming return and stated that it's a big deal. He noted that it will be interesting to see what kind of reactions Punk gets, and the veteran used The Elite getting booed in Chicago following Brawl Out as an example. Hardy also pointed out that the fans are"smart", so it will be especially interesting to see how they react to Punk.
"CM Punk, he is a huge star, so him coming back is a big deal. It’s just gonna be really interesting to see what kind of reaction he gets. I know when the Young Bucks were in Chicago, they were getting booed out of the building. They were polarizing. It’s gonna be interesting to see how CM Punk’s reactions are as well, especially with how smart the All Elite Wrestling fans are," Hardy said.
Co-host Jon Alba brought up the rumors that Samoa Joe has been rumored as a potential feud for Punk, and he stated that it would be good for business. Hardy briefly expressed his agreement.
"That’s probably a best-case scenario, I would guess," Hardy said.
