Matt Taven Feels That ROH's Current Roster Can Keep Up With Any Roster From Wrestling's History

Matt Taven is confident in the ROH locker room.

Matt Taven has been ROH World Champion for three months now and his next title defense is slated for next week at Ring Of Honor's Best In The World pay-per-view where Taven will meet Jeff Cobb in singles action. On his road to becoming ROH World Champion, Taven has spoken at length about becoming the top guy in Ring Of Honor and leading the charge in the company going forward. His words became his reality and now he is leading the charge and while speaking with Scott Fishman of TV Insider, Taven expressed that he feels ROH's locker room can hold up with any locker room from wrestling's history.

AEW Continental Classic Blue League Matches Confirmed For Saturday's AEW Collision

“The locker room we have right now can hold up with any era or decade of previous locker rooms,” Taven said. “It’s one of those things where there are guys who have been here for a while, guys that are new. Everyone has that refreshed chip on their shoulder because there is a lot of buzz in wrestling in general right now. We want our fair share of it. We believe this locker room is as good as it’s been in years. We can talk all we want and could probably get a headline, but honestly tune into Best in the World. Ring of Honor has been through its ups and downs and a million different people coming and going. It has continued to go on the path it has and continued to grow to a bigger audience. It knows what it’s doing. We are in this position for a reason.”

The Kingdom now consists of Matt Taven, TK O'Ryan and Vinny Marseglia but the group has had different variations that once included current 205 Live stars Mike and Maria Kanellis. Prior to the report that Mike and Maria inked new deals with WWE, speculation surrounded the two regarding where they were headed after WWE. Taven spoke about Mike and Maria and shared that he just wants what is best for them.

“I would like to see Mike anywhere makes him happy,” Taven said. “This is a business where no matter what company you are working for, it takes a lot out of you. It’s a hard one, nonetheless. Whatever makes Mike and Maria happy. Whenever I see them, they seem like they’re having a good time. That’s the place I’d like Mike to be wherever he decides to do it.”

Ring Of Honor is releasing new portions of their sit-down interview with Jeff Cobb and that series can be watched here.
