Max Caster says scissoring brings people together.
Caster and Anthony Bowens, collectively known as The Acclaimed, currently hold the AEW World Tag Team Championship. The duo have risen to the forefront in AEW, due in large part to the remarkable popularity of their scissoring taunt, where Bowens and Caster make the "A" with their fingers to represent their team. Fans around the world have started to scissor in recognition of The Acclaimed, and many of them chant along as Bowens asks "Daddy Ass" Billy Gunn to scissor him. Scissoring can be controversial, and while kids enjoy it too, it can cause them to get in trouble at school.
Speaking on The AJ Awesome Show with AJ Awesome, Caster was asked to share his thoughts on kids getting in trouble for scissoring. He noted that it's "great:, and it's exactly what The Acclaimed are going for. He pointed out that kids will probably get in trouble anyway, so with that in mind, he and Bowens want scissoring to be the reason.
“It’s great. One of the security guards at one of the arenas we were at pull me and Anthony aside. He goes, ‘Hey, I just want you guys to know that my cousin just got suspended from school because he was doing the scissoring.’ We got, ‘That’s exactly what we wanted.’ Kids are gonna get in trouble, but if they’re gonna get in trouble, we want it to be from scissoring," Caster said.
AJ then noted that he got in trouble for saying "Suck it", which was D-Generation X's catchphrase. Caster responded by noting that he likes scissoring because it's inviting and inclusive, whereas "Suck it" is kind of an insult. He then brought up an example of the way scissoring brings people together and makes a difference in the world.
"A lot of people think the scissoring is taking over what 'Suck it' was back in the 90s and 2000s. I really love the scissoring because it brings people together. It’s more inviting. ‘Suck it’ is kind of an insult to people. Scissor is like, ‘Come here, put her there.’ It’s a sign of friendship. It brings people together. Even today, this kid was at my table, and another fan just randomly gives him a poster for me to siren. ‘Here you go, man. Merry Christmas.’ Then they scissored. But it’s that scissor that brought them together in that moment. They could have just said thanks, they could have shook hands, whatever. They scissored, and that’s making a difference in the world through wrestling, through scissoring. Imagine that. Isn’t it crazy?" Caster said.
