Mercedes Mone On Online Criticism: I Learned A Long Time Ago To Not Let Words Affect Me

Mercedes Mone says things don't get to her anymore.

Dating back to her run as Sasha Banks, Mercedes Mone has been a polarizing figure in the wrestling world. She has cemented her place as a top star, first in WWE and now in AEW, but her success has always been followed by critics and naysayers.

Speaking with Rick Ucchino for The Takedown on SI, AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone commented on the criticism she often receives online.

"Oh, things don't get to me at all anymore (laughs). I learned a long time ago to not let words affect me, because the internet used to affect me so much. Just the littlest things... would ruin my whole day," Mone said.

Mone noted that, over time, she has learned how to not let the comments get to her. She stated that there was no way to know who was on the other side of the keyboard, or if they were a bot, and regardless, she didn't care.

"We have no idea who is on the other side of the keyboard. I don't know if these are bots. I don't know if it's someone who looks like you. I don't know if it's a witch or rat or whoever, but at the end of the day I don't care what you have to say about me," Mone said.

Mone also noted that, whether people love her or hate her, hearing them talk about her at all was "the best feeling in the world."

Mone recently expressed her interest in challenging for the AEW Women's World Championship. Check out her comments here.

At AEW Full Gear, Mone will defend her title against Kris Statlander.

Fightful will have coverage of AEW Full Gear as it airs on November 23, as well as a post-show podcast.
