Misty McMichael Says She Turned Down Offer To Team With 'Mongo' Against Steve Austin And Debra

Fans were introduced to Debra McMichael through Steve "Mongo" McMichael, a Super Bowl Champion turned WCW announcer turned Four Horsemen member.

Debra and Steve were together until 1998 before splitting. Debra would go on to WWF and eventually marry Steve Austin in 2000. Steve would marry Misty Davenport in 2001.

According to Misty, there was an offer from Vince McMahon to have Misty & Steve take on Debra & Austin in the ring.

"Right before everybody retired, Vince McMahon came to me with a beautiful offer, and to this day, I regret turning it down. He wanted Steve and I to wrestle Stone Cold [Steve Austin] and Debra. That could have been millions in pay-per-views. I didn't know he was going to get ALS. If I would have known that, I would have done it. At the time, I was just thinking about getting him out of the business and keeping his body from injuries and I wanted him to live longer. It was pretty selfish in my decision. I probably should have done that," Misty recalled on Chicago Sports Podcast.

McMichael never competed in WWE. The relationship between Austin and Debra was referenced on-screen during the build to Austin vs. Rock at WrestleMania 17.

Fightful wishes the best to Steve McMichael as he continues to battle ALS.
