Montez Ford opens up about how 2024 has been a frustrating year.
The Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) have been on WWE's main roster since 2019. They have held the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Championships. The duo has not held any titles since they lost the SmackDown Tag Team Championships in January 2021. They started a new chapter by joining forces with Bobby Lashley in 2023, but Lashley left WWE in August 2024, and the Street Profits are moving forward.
Speaking with Lewis Browning for Mail Sport, Montez Ford commented on his current run in WWE.
"It's the best, man. For me to sit here and go like, how's it going, that it's good, that'd be a lie. There's always pleasure in doing what you love, what you admire, what you have dreamt of, what you have goals in and passion for, but it does get to that sense of frustration where anything you try to accomplish in life, where you may feel like it's either taking too long, or it's been too long, or nothing's happening. You've got new faces showing up on the scene, and our audience naturally tends to forget what we've done and how we've done it. In the now, it is at the point where it's been almost four years since we've been tag team champions," Ford said.
Ford continued by stating that he saw all the comments from fans and critics. He expressed his frustration that the Street Profits were not in the conversation regarding top tag teams or even wrestling overall. Ford admitted that while he enjoys being in WWE, he is frustrated.
"I'm not going to lie and say I don't sit here and watch all the comments and everything. I watch everything. We're not in conversations when it comes to top tag teams. We're not in conversations when it comes to anything wrestling related, besides the fact of getting handled by The Bloodline, and that doesn't sit well with me. So as well as is it is going in terms of being my dream job, it is enjoying as it is frustrating," Ford said.
Ford went on to note that 2024 has been a challenging year, as he lost his grandfather, and Dawins dealt with the loss of his mother. He reiterated that, moving forward, he was still chasing the recognition that comes with being a champion, so that remains his goal.
During the interview, Ford commented on Bobby Lashley leaving WWE. Check out his comments here.
