Mustafa Ali has revealed some interesting past plans for his character.
Throughout his tenure in WWE, Mustafa Ali has underwent a few different changes to his character with the likes of his 'The Heart Of 205 Live' gimmick or even his stint as the leader of Retribution. In a recent Twitter post, Ali reflected upon his past characters and discussed his attempts at being marketable.
i’ve always found myself toning down who i am to be more “marketable”…and because of that i find myself trying to find myself.

When a fan replied to suggest that he could use Hulk Hogan's 'Real American' theme music as a way to be authentic to his true self, Ali revealed that there was once a plan for that exact scenario to play out.
@AliWWE I would love to see you come out to Hogan’s Real American. Real Americans come in every shape, size and skintone. @WWE
