New Champions Crowned At Tonight's Impact Tapings

Matt Sydal now has two of Impact's championships, while Allie regained the Knockouts title.

Grand champion Sydal defeated X Division champion Taiji Ishimori tonight to become a double champion. Ishimori had held the title for 63 days, defeating Trevor Lee back on November 9 of last year.

It isn't known just yet if this is something permanent, or if he is set to defend both titles individually. In what may be a sign, at the tapings held on January 10, the Grand title was defended without the usual rules and was held as a regular match. Matt Sydal retained the title that night against Fallah Baah.

Meanwhile Allie, who has been the perennial challenger to the title since last year, defeated Laurel Van Ness tonight to win the Impact Knockouts championship for the second time. Van Ness held the title for 66 days, winning the title when it was vacated by Gail Kim after Bound For Glory following her retirement.

Impact will continue to tape footage through January 15.
