Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton's on-screen pairing was a long time coming.
Heading into WWE SummerSlam, Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton formed an alliance, as Jax was set to challenge Bayley for the WWE Women's Championship at WWE SummerSlam, and Stratton held the Money in the Bank briefcase. At WWE SummerSlam, Jax defeated Bayley to win the title after Stratton teased cashing in her Money in the Bank contract. They then celebrated together after the bell.
Speaking at the WWE SummerSlam Post-Show, Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture asked Nia Jax and Tiffan Stratton about the origin of their bond. Stratton recalled how Jax sat next to her on the way to WWE Elimination Chamber.
"She basically hand-picked me to be her bestie. We were on our way to Australia for Elimination Chamber, and she sat next to me, and she literally requested it," Stratton said.
Jax then recalled the beginning of their friendship, as she noted that she wanted to make sure that Stratton would be okay on her first international tour. She went on to praise Stratton and call her lightning in a bottle. Jax also expressed her excitement about their pairing.
"She was a newbie, this was her first international tour. I wanted to make sure she was gonna be okay and safe out there, you never know. We clicked right off the bat. She’s incredibly talented in the ring. She’s like lightning in a bottle. It’s very rare to see it here. She’s two-and-a-half years in, she gets it, she’s athletic, she’s got this aura about her. We constantly go over how many merch options we could do for her. I’m like, ‘Let’s do this and this.’ I saw her, and I instantly had a connection with her, and I’m like, ‘You know what? You’re gonna be under my wing.’ Because Nia Jax is quite the force, and she really had no choice. But I’m excited for this pairing and to see where it goes," Jax said.
