WWE is coming to Las Vegas on August 21 for the biggest party of the summer.
WWE announced that Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas will host SummerSlam, which is one of WWE's biggest events of the year. Many locations were reportedly considered to host the event, but ultimately WWE settled on Las Vegas.
Appearing on FOX 5 in Las Vegas, WWE President Nick Khan explained why the company picked Vegas.
"We know how bad the pandemic hit Las Vegas and the economy there. One of the thoughts we had [at WWE] was to have one of our signature events, SummerSlam, at Allegiant. I don't believe there have been full fans there yet. We thought a big sell out crowd in Vegas to help stimulate the economy would be the right thing to do with the city," he said.
Khan gave similar information in an interview with News 3 in Vegas, saying, "There's so much money and commerce flowing through Las Vegas, an event like ours, it only made sense to have it there. We believe Las Vegas is a working-class heart type of town. People work hard, they play hard. To have an event to help re-jump start this economy and get people back going and put smiles on faces, that's what we do and we're happy to have it there."
Khan is a Vegas native having attended Bonanza High and graduating from UNLV.
While no matches have been made official for SummerSlam, Stephanie McMahon has guaranteed surprises for the event. You can find her full comments by clicking here.
