Nigel McGuinness: I Thought About Bryan Danielson's Retirement For A Long Time, It Wasn't What I Expected

Nigel McGuinness reacts to Bryan Danielson's retirement.

Nigel McGuinness has been vocal about his disdain for 'The American Dragon' on commentary for quite some time, with the bitter feud culminating in a bout against one another at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam last month. Danielson would win on that night, and at AEW WrestleDream on October 12th, Jon Moxley choked Danielson out to capture the AEW World Heavyweight Championship and end his full time in ring wrestling career.

While speaking during the post AEW WrestleDream press conference, Nigel McGuinness addressed the end of Danielson's full time career, noting that while he had thought about the moment for a long time, it wasn't what he expected.

"No, I don't think anyone can question Brian's determination, and I said it on the show tonight. I thought about the end of his career for a long time, but when it actually happened, it wasn't what I expected."

Following the conclusion of Danielson's match with Moxley, Wheeler Yuta would make his way down to the ring along with Darby Allin to stave off an attack from Moxley and his new faction. Wheeler would then turn on Danielson and Allin, attacking Danielson with a plastic bag.
