Hiroshi Tanahashi and Katsuyori Shibata went to a five-minute time limit draw in their exhibition bout at NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty.
Though it was billed as a grappling contest, Shibata and Tanahashi spent the majority of the match getting into a striking exchange. The bout ended as they traded chops back and forth.
In a sign of respect, the two embraced after the bout.

The bout came together at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19 when Shibata returned to NJPW and saved Tanahashi from an attack by HOUSE OF TORTURE. This was Shibata's first NJPW match in Japan since NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 16. It was his first time against Tanahashi since 2016.
