Omos Was 'Petrified' At WrestleMania 37, Says Kevin Nash Gave Him A Hug And Helped Him Relax

Omos recalls winning championship gold on the big stage.

At WrestleMania 37, Omos made his main roster in-ring debut by teaming with AJ Styles to win the Raw Tag Team Championships from the New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods). This was also Omos' first time competing in a match since February 2020, when he teamed with Bronson Reed to face Aleksandar Jaksic and Tehuti Miles at a NXT live event.

While speaking to The Undertaker on a Patreon exclusive episode of Six Feet Under, Omos was asked to describe the feeling that he felt when he walked out on the WrestleMania stage for the first time.

"Petrified. I remember that was WrestleMania in Tampa, like three, four years ago. I remember that was like my because during the whole time when I was with AJ Styles, we were in the Performance Center, [with] just the screens. I remember we go out there and Vince goes, 'Oh, we're going to introduce everybody, we come up to the stage. I think [the audience at Raymond James Stadium at WrestleMania 37] was about like 25% capacity, and the energy from the audience was -- I was so overwhelmed. I almost cried. I never felt that was energy in my talent. I was overwhelmed with emotion, and I walked back, and I'm shaking, and I see Kevin Nash, he goes, 'Come here, big man.' Gives me a big hug, and I'm like [breathing heavily]. He's like, 'Breathe. It's okay. It's okay. Breathe, breathe, breathe. I remember when I went out there, it feels like a flash, that whole match. I can remember bits and pieces, but I was just so overwhelmed by everything."

Omos went on to speak on the importance of having that moment in Tampa.

"Tampa holds a place in my heart, because I went to college in Tampa. I went to USF, right? Originally, my plan was I was supposed to go there, you know, have a good basketball career, and hopefully go to NCAA tournament, win the national championship. I felt like I failed my mission [in] my first stint around in Tampa. To go back there and do WrestleMania in Tampa, and not just any arena, in the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, and then to win the Tag Team Titles and have people in the city who know who I am, it was like I will never forget that one for the rest of my life."

Elsewhere in the interview, Omos stated that he started taking acting classes after watching a segment between Jey Uso and Roman Reigns. Learn more here.
