Orange Cassidy: It Is A Goal Of Mine To Compete In NJPW Best Of Super Juniors If AEW Would Let Me

Orange Cassidy has always wanted to compete in the Best of Super Juniors.

Former AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy is one of AEW's top stars. Through the company's working relationship with NJPW, he wrestled at NJPW Collision in Philadelphia in 2023. AEW's relationship with NJPW continues to grow, and the two companies will hold thee third Forbidden Door pay-per-view in June 30.

Speaking with Phil Strum on Under The Ring, Orange Cassidy was asked to comment on his first introduction to Japanese professional wrestling.

“Probably Best of Super Juniors, can’t remember which year it was, but it had all your…I remember watching that and being like, ‘Oh, wow, this is a whole tournament based on the style of wrestling that I like.’ Seeing what they were doing in there was something that I really admired, and it is a goal of mine to be in the Best of Super Juniors if AEW will let me go for that long to do that. But that’s something I’ve always wanted to do. It’s something I would love to be a part of," Cassidy said.

Cassidy was also asked whether Japanese fans would understand the Orange Cassidy character, and he said he would love to find out.

"I would love to find out. I would love to see if they did or not. I seem to get good reactions from the Japanese wrestlers that come over, so if that’s any indication, I guess that’d be okay. But hey, how about this, let’s find out," Cassidy said.

Wheeler Yuta previously competed in the Best of the Super Juniors tournament in 2022. Eddie Kingston was a participant in the G1 Climax 33 in 2023.

Fightful will have coverage of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door as it airs on June 30.
