Pat McAfee: Miz Didn't Know He Was Facing Me At WrestleMania 39 Until Saturday, For Shoot

Pat McAfee made a surprise return at WrestleMania 39, answering The Miz' challenge that he claimed to have laid out on social media, but said no one had answered.

It marked the second straight year McAfee had competed at WrestleMania, and he claims to remain undefeated after his victory over the Miz. He defeated Austin Theory at WrestleMania 38, but then lost to Vince McMahon in a match that may or may not have been sanctioned.

"There were three people that knew, in the whole world, that was going to be a situation for a little bit. We needed the moment to pop up. Finally, when Miz said, 'I sent out an open challenge.' All parties were like, 'Now is the time.' Michael Cole had no idea I was there. He walked by the bus one time, actually seen him. Haven't seen that guy in a long time, miss that guy, would like to talk to that guy. Can't because we don't know if the moment is going to come, and I don't want to distract him. Obviously, Miz did not know until Saturday. For shoot. When my music hit is near when Miz found out. He might have thought, 'is there somebody back there who wants to come dance?' He never expected it to be me," McAfee said on The Pat McAfee Show.

McAfee later said four people may have known, and one of them was the tech guy who set up the TVs on the bus.

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle helped McAfee pick up the victory. McAfee praised Kittle for preventing Miz from leaving, though he would have taken the victory either way.
