Paul Heyman: Jey Uso Winning At WrestleMania 41 Would Be One Of The Most Fan-Friendly Wins In History

Paul Heyman believes that if Jey Uso is able to win the World Heavyweight Championship from Gunther at WWE WrestleMania 41, it will be one of the most emotional victories in WWE history.

With a stacked lineup of names like CM Punk, John Cena, Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre, Sami Zayn, Logan Paul, and others, Jey Uso pulled out a surprising underdog victory in the 2025 WWE Royal Rumble. It earned him the right to challenge Gunther for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The story of the match has revolved around Uso continuing to punch above his weight against the dominant champion.

Triple H: I Love Joe Hendry. He Has A Bright Future. I Was Happy We Could Showcase Him At WrestleMania

Paul Heyman, who has seen many underdog stories pay off in emotional victories through the years, told ESPN that if Uso can pull it off and defeat Gunther, it will be one of the most popular victories in industry history. He thinks this because of the turmoil that fans have seen Uso overcome with the internal split of the Bloodline, which Heyman has had a front-row seat for, both in front of and behind the camera.

"I think it would be one of the most fan-friendly and emotional victories in the history of this industry," WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman said of the possibility that Jey could take home the World Heavyweight Championship, "because the audience has lived through the turmoil of Jey Uso's career."

Paul Heyman has known Jey Uso for the majority of his life, meeting Jey and Jimmy Uso when they were just four years old. Even then, Heyman saw talent in them.

"They were indisputably the best tag team in the world. It was too easy for them," Heyman said. "So anytime the suggestion was thrown out there that they could both be single stars, they would look at everyone like we were crazy because how could you break up the best tag team in the world? Neither one of them truly understood just how much box office [appeal] they had to offer until they were put in a position where they had no choice but to self-analyze and realize the singles greatness that lives inside each of them."

Jey Uso has said he hopes to open WrestleMania Saturday with a win over Gunther. Read his comments on that here.
