The co-founder feels that they deliver the same product that can be seen on the main stream.
The 'Prairie Wrestling Alliance' is a promotion based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and has been up and running for nearly 18 years. The promotion was co-founded and is currently ran by Kurt Sorochan. Next Saturday on June 23rd 'PWA' will be presenting their 'Night Of Champions 16' event which will be held inside of the gymnasium at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton. Kurt Sorochan recently spoke with 'Global News' to promote the event and he discussed the type of wrestling fan that comes to watch the action they present.
“There’s a lot of very smart fans [here],” he says. “They really understand how wrestling works. They really understand the entertainment. So there’s a big fan base to draw from." He continued, "The fan experience is incredible. It’s not like going to a movie, where you simply sit and watch for a few hours and are entertained. It’s far more interactive and far more fun.”
Sorochan believes that his promotion delivers the same type of product that can be seen on mainstream television. The 'PWA' has brought in a number of notable names to "The Great White North" to compete including "The American Nightmare" Cody, Natalya, Booker T, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and also, former WWF Intercontinental Champion and fellow Canadian Lance Storm was formerly a booker for the promotion.
"Overall, we’ll deliver the same kind of action that people will see on TV with WWE – with very high-calibre talent,” he says. “We bring in a lot of special guests, a lot of former WWE wrestlers, a lot of legends. A lot of our wrestlers left us to go to WWE,” he says. “We’re their primary place to wrestle but they’ll venture out into other places.”
For those who live in the Edmonton area or near it, tickets for the event are available to purchase at the 'Paws The Cat Cafe'.
