Queen Sharmell talks 2005 storyline with Kurt Angle.
When Booker T started having his wife Sharmell accompany him to the ring in WWE, Sharmell was thrown into a storyline where Kurt Angle was stalking her as he became obsessed with her. This led to his match with Booker T at WWE Judgment Day 2005.
Queen Sharmell, a WWE Hall of Famer in her own right, spoke about during a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet on the Insight podcast. Sharmell says that while there are definitely scenarios that she disagrees with, the storyline did not bother her because, in her mind, she was acting.
“Kurt was stalking me. Because I was so new at that time. I don’t even know. It’s just like, you know, they were like, Okay, here’s what you’re doing. Okay. I don’t know who came up with any of that. But I thought it was brilliant. Everybody’s real touchy right now in this day and age. But it didn’t bother me. I thought it was great. It was interesting, but I don’t know if you could get away with that. In this day and age. Everybody’s like, no, we can’t do that. It wouldn’t fly, but because I knew it was acting, you know what I mean? Now, there are some serious situations out there that are like that, and I don’t condone that at all, but when it was acting, it was okay for me. That’s just me.”

Sharmell's time on WWE television, paired with her husband, earned her a Hall of Fame induction in 2022 and is an inspiration to today's stars. Montez Ford was once quoted as saying that he would like to run a storyline similar to King Booker and Queen Sharmell if he was ever paired with his wife, Bianca Belair, on WWE television.
