R-Truth Says He Broke John Cena By Referring To Him As His 'Childhood Hero'

R-Truth speaks about jokingly calling John Cena his childhood hero and getting Cena's blessing to go all out with the gimmick.

While some will argue R-Truth is aging more gracefully than John Cena, Truth is actually older than the 16-time WWE Champion. That doesn't stop WWE's designated jokester from calling Cena his childhood hero. Through the years, Truth has even adopted some of John Cena's moves.

R-Truth recently spoke about this aspect of his character during an interview with Chris Van Vliet. Truth admitted that even John Cena cracked up at the idea of being Truth's hero. Hey, Truth isn't about to burst anyone's bubble.

“Oh, man, I broke him too with that one. That was good, man, and they’re still running with it. I love it, man. I’m not going to burst nobody’s bubble. I’m not a bubble buster. I love it. He is my childhood hero. I would be legs crossed watching him every Saturday morning.”

Truth even reflected on getting John Cena's blessing to imitate some of his idiosyncrasies in the ring and parody his style.

“Everything, even wearing shorts. He said, ‘Truth you don’t have to ask me to wear shorts in the ring.’ I said, ‘Man, but I want to. I want to be you. I want to do everything you do, walk, talk. How do you hold your head to the side? I want to do everything. I want to be you.’ He said, ‘Run with it, man.’ Yeah, he’s one of the greatest.”

That John Cena is such a good guy to all of the young ones he's inspired.

Unfortunately for Truth, his childhood hero is about to begin his retirement Tour on the January 6 episode of WWE Raw. Learn more about the upcoming retirement tour for John Cena here.
