His resignation came one day after former employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against McMahon, WWE and former executive John Laurinaitis. The lawsuit accuses McMahon of sex trafficking, emotional abuse, and sexual assault.

The details of the lawsuit led to Slim Jim pausing its promotional partnership with WWE ahead of WWE Royal Rumble. Shortly after Slim Jim announced its decision to pause its partnership, McMahon tendered his resignation.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, TKO CEO Ari Emanuel and TKO President and COO Mark Shapiro called McMahon and told him it would be in the best interest of the company for him to resign.

McMahon agreed, but denied the allegations against him in a public statement regarding his resignation.

Slim Jim resumed its promotional partnership with WWE after McMahon announced his resignation.

McMahon is currently under federal investigation.
