Report: Austin & Billy Gunn Match Was Never Intended To Air On AEW Dark

Fans may have noticed that the reported match between Austin & Billy Gunn against Shawn Spears & Preston Vance did not air on Tuesday's AEW Dark. The match was taped on Jan. 1 as part of the AEW Dark tapings before AEW Dynamite in Jacksonville. The Gunn Club picked up the victory in the tag team bout.

According to Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, the match was never intended to air on AEW Dark. Satin reports that the match was more of a tryout, which was said to have gone well. Austin & Billy will reportedly team again on Wednesday for a match that will likely air on next Tuesday's Dark.

AEW posted a graphic advertising Austin & Billy against Proud N Powerful (Santana & Ortiz) on AEW Dark, but that was not the match taped after Dynamite.

Austin Gunn reportedly signed with ROH in June 2019. He competed in the ROH Top Prospect tournament, losing to Dak Draper in the finals. Unfortunately, not many people saw the match as ROH Honor Club had streaming issues during the bout.

Fightful will have live coverage of AEW Dynamite beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday and full spoilers from AEW Dark following the conclusion of the tapings.
