The WWE brand hit hardest by the pandemic has been NXT UK as they have been unable to run live shows amid COVID-19.
WWE has continued to hold new episodes of Raw, SmackDown, and NXT since mid-March but NXT UK has been on hiatus with archived footage or specials airing over the past few months. Along with not being able to produce new content, the British wrestling scene has come under fire with the Speaking Out movement as many have been accused of sexual misconduct, abuse, and/or assault. NXT UK has already released Ligero, Jack Gallagher, and Travis Banks, all of whom had allegations against them.
Despite those things, Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT reports NXT UK won't be shutting down and WWE is still committed to global expansion.
It was reported in May by Sportskeeda's Gary Cassidy that NXT UK talent had been doing seminars at home and that there was a tentative plan to tape empty shows. NXT UK roster members have been taping promos that have aired on recent episodes of NXT UK.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports WWE is expected to make a major NXT UK announcement on Tuesday, June 30 with talent participating in a mandatory conference call.
