A big development ahead of Crown Jewel.
Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Renee Young will join the announce team at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. The report indicates that WWE began working on Young's inclusion back in September when she joined the Raw announce team on a full-time basis.
Satin reports that "it’s unclear if Renee will have certain guidelines or rules to follow because of the country’s numerous restrictions for women."
As fans know, the WWE female superstars are not allowed to compete in Saudi Arabia and the women's roster will not be traveling with the company for Friday's event. At the Greatest Royal Rumble in April, the General Sports Authority had to apologize on behalf of WWE for airing a video package featuring Carmella, Sasha Banks, and Bayley.
Daniel Bryan and John Cena have reportedly refused to attend the event after the Saudi government was linked to the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Cena was replaced by Bobby Lashley in the WWE World Cup. Bryan is currently still advertised to face AJ Styles on the show.
Multiple WWE superstars have defended WWE's decision to remain in Saudi Arabia, believing WWE's presence will help lead to change in the country.
