Any hope for Rey Mysterio and WWE reuniting for one last run are pretty much dashed, according to reports.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has passed on trying to sign Mysterio and that any reports of WWE and Mysterio being in talks to get back together with the company were reportedly overblown because Mysterio is still in talks with GFW.
Mysterio being with GFW would allow him to work fewer dates than WWE as well as do side projects. There was some worry that Mysterio at this stage in his career would not be able to work a full schedule, something the former WWE Champion has been hoping to avoid if he had signed with WWE.
The Observer also reports that Konnan said he had not negotiated on behalf of Mysterio when it comes to WWE. Konnan reportedly said that if Mysterio wanted to go to WWE, and if anyone in WWE saw Konnan's involvement in any talks as a negative, then Konnan would stay out and allow Mysterio to negotiate for himself.
Mysterio is just the latest Lucha Underground star to be flirting with other promotions or is not content with Lucha Underground. Ricochet, who wrestles for Lucha Underground as Prince Puma, has been very vocal about his displeasure of not being able to sign with other promotions due to his prior commitments for the El Rey show.
