Report: The Rock Has Said He’s Open To Wrestling Roman Reigns In 2022

The Rock is definitely open to fighting Roman Reigns, but it may not happen until years from now.

In recent years, when discussing a possible return to the squared circle for Dwayne “The Rock'' Johnson, Roman Reigns’ name has consistently been in the discussion. Now, with Roman adopting the “Tribal Chief” persona, fans more than ever have been clamoring for Roman Reigns to come face-to-face with The Rock to determine who is the top dog in the Anoa’i clan.

AEW International Title Bout Announced For AEW Full Gear

While many are under the impression that The Rock would be a great opponent for Roman Reigns at next year's WrestleMania, a new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter states that sources close to the situation say Johnson has talked about having that match in the year 2022.

The Rock, of course, has a multitude of projects he is working on at all times including his Teramana tequila brand, movies such as Disney's Jungle Cruise and DC’s Black Adam, and the relaunch of the XFL which he now owns with his business partner, Dany Garcia. The XFL is also set to relaunch in 2022.

In the past, The Rock has commented on this match on social media, saying that he would be honored to help elevate Roman Reigns.

"Rock [vs.] Roman Reigns, is it possible? I think anything's possible," Rock began. "Sure, of course. I'm always open. You know, that's the cool thing about the world of professional wrestling, is that there's an adaptability to wrestling. You never say never in the world of pro wrestling and you never say no, never, with Vince McMahon, who, you know, has been one of my mentors in business for a very, very long time and a very, very close friend, and confidant. So you never say no. I think, you know, for something like that to happen, I think the venue would have to be right. I think the business model would have to be right, but, I'm very close with Roman and that's family to me. So we'll see."

The Rock's last match was against Erick Rowan at WrestleMania 32 in 2016 and was shorter than two minutes.

For now, Roman Reigns is concerned about another returning Superstar setting his sights on him, that being Bill Goldberg. Learn more at this link.
