Shane McMahon's Wrestlemania involvement is up in the air.
Two weeks ago, Shane McMahon stepped down as Smackdown Commissioner and created a match between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. He was then attacked by Owens and Zayn and missed the next week of Smackdown. Yesterday, WWE announced McMahon was hospitalized due to diverticulitis and a hernia which left fans wondering if it was a part of the storyline beat down by Zayn and Owens.
Wrestling Observer Radio reported the injury is legitimate and this puts McMahon's Wrestlemania plans in jeopardy. He had no match scheduled for Wrestlemania yet but popular speculation was he would somehow end up in the ring with Zayn and Owens.
In McMahon's absence on last week's Smackdown, Daniel Bryan returned and spoke about being medically cleared by WWE to compete. He reluctantly fired Zayn and Owens for their actions but also received a severe beating from the two wrestlers.
Update:
Shane McMahon posted the following to Instagram thanking his fans for their support.
Fightful Wrestling has live coverage and a recapping podcast each week for Smackdown. The same will be done for Wrestlemania 34.
