The WWE and United Kingdom experiment continues.
This June, WWE will be holding a United Kingdom tournament which will take place at the Download Festival and Royal Albert Hall in London. There have been reports of WWE offering contracts to a lot of United Kingdom talent and signing former Progress Women's Champion Toni Storm.
Earlier this year, Triple H spoke at the WWE Business Partner Summit to explain the term he said he coined "Global Localization." In that speech, he said WWE wants to start "NXT style brands" in different regions to foster more growth in professional wrestling as a whole.
The Wrestling Observer reports WWE has plans to announce a partnership with Insane Championship Wrestling and Progress Wrestling out of the United Kingdom in order to stream their events on the WWE Network events. The announcement is reportedly set to happen around the time of the two-day event at Royal Albert Hall on June 18th and 19th.
Many WWE wrestlers have been in ICW or Progress Wrestling including Finn Balor, Noam Darr, Kassius Ohno and Aleister Black. Balor made a guest appearance at an ICW show while under WWE contract and Ohno wrestled in a Progress tournament recently. Wrestlers from Progress also appeared at WrestleMania Axxess.
Fightful Wrestling will be covering the United Kingdom tournament including the show at Royal Albert Hall.
